agnitude%20spectrum%20is%203-6%20dB%20greater%20than%20in%20either%20of%20the%20two%20energy%20density%20spectra%20due%20to%20the%20vector%20nature%20of%20acoustic%20intensity.%20Although%20smaller%20than%20the%20net%20horizontal%20flux%20above%20a%20few%20hertz%2C%20a%20statistically%20significant%20net%20vertical%20flux%20density%20of%20energy%20occurs%20across%20the%20whole%20frequency%20band%2C%20from%20the%20ocean%20surface%20into%20the%20bottom.%20The%20direction%20of%20the%20net%20horizontal%20flux%20density%20for%20various%20discrete%20sources%2C%20e.g.%2C%20a%20magnitude%204.1%20earthquake%2C%20a%20blue%20whale%2C%20and%20commercial%20ships%2C%20is%20discussed.%20The%20net%20horizontal%20flux%20density%20of%20the%20background%20sound%20field%20between%205%20and%2012%20Hz%20may%20have%20been%20determined%20by%20the%20surrounding%20ocean%20bottom%20topography%20in%20one%20experiment%3B%20its%20direction%20approximately%20coincides%20with%20the%20center%20of%20a%20topographic%20window.%20However%2C%20it%20also%20matches%20the%20heading%20toward%20a%204000-km-distant%20hurricane.%20A%20third%20possibility%20of%20an%20unknown%2C%20broadband%20source%20cannot%20be%20eliminated%20with%20the%20available%20data.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%22Mar%201991%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22English%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1121%5C%2F1.400677%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%220001-4966%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%225QD2CZAS%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222022-09-12T21%3A37%3A34Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
